This article will provide a step-by-step guide on cleaning any EPSON projector at any Life.Church location.
Before You Begin
Make sure that you have the following tools and supplies ready to go:
- Microfiber towel
- DataVac electronic blower
Step-by-Step Cleaning Guide
1. Remove Rear Cover
- Loosen the two thumb screws that hold the cover on.
- These screws need to stay attached to the cover. They are held on by little washers, even when fully removed from the projector chassis.
2. Unplug Power at the Projector and Plug the DataVac In
- Find the IEC power cable that is plugged in on the back of the projector.
- At this time, find an open outlet and plug the DataVac into it.
- If there is not an open outlet in sight, you can use an extension cord to plug the lift utility power into an outlet on the ground.
- Then just use the outlet that is in the lift basket!
3. Remove the Filter
- The projector’s filter is located on the right-hand side when looking at the back of the projector (where all the cables are plugged in).
- Press the tab that is on the back side of the filter cover and swing the door slightly so it unhooks and comes off.
- No need to worry about dropping the filter door! It is attached to the projector chassis by a small plastic safety tie.
- After the door is pulled off, take the filter by one of the black tabs and pull it straight out of the projector chassis.
4. Blow Out the Projector’s Fans, Vents, and Filter
There are 4 main areas that need to be cleared with the blower:
4.1. Both fans on the rear of the projector
4.2. Both vents on the front of the projector
4.3. Filter and filter housing
4.4. Vent on the side of the projector (opposite side from the filter)
5. Place the Filter Back into the Projector and Close the Filter Cover
- The filter cover goes on in a similar way to a TV remote battery cover.
- Two tabs need to slide into the grooves toward the front of the projector, and then latch shut on the edge toward the rear of the projector.
6. Wipe Down the Projector with the Microfiber Towel
- Take the microfiber towel and thoroughly wipe down the top side of the projector and rear cover.
- Then use very light pressure and gently wipe the lens free of any dust that is accumulating.
7. Plug the IEC Power Cable Back In and Re-Attach the Rear Cover
- Make sure that the cover edges are flush, and tighten the two thumb screws to secure the cover.
8. Verify That the Projector Has Power
- On the bottom side of the projector, verify that one blue indicator light is on.
9. Turn the Projector On and Verify That the Image Has Not Moved
- The projectors can be moved slightly by accident when cleaning them.
- If the image looks perfectly centered on the projector screen, you are all set!
- If the image has shifted slightly, please attempt to move the image back to center by swiveling the projector slightly.
- If you need help getting the image back to center, please call the Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846
10. One Down!
Repeat the above steps for each projector in the Auditorium and LifeKids.
